The corners of 3rd and Chestunt, 4th and Chestnut, and Chase and Chestnut should be 4-way stops. People are parking right up to the corners on Chestnut giving limited sightlines for drivers on the cross-streets. People race up and down Chestnut between 2nd and 9th. There are two schools which have students crossing Chestnut: Garrison Middle School and Paine School (which idiot decided to rename that school? Do they even know who the Paine was it was named after?). We also need at least one swimming pool. When we have a pool for everyone to use, then we can talk about perhaps expanding it to an "Aquatic Center". First things first; why do the Park and Recreation people think the bond measures keep failing? I was born and raised here in Walla Walla. When I was growing up we had Memorial, the Natatorium, Pioneer Park and Jefferson Park pools. Now we have...? 4  out of 17 found this valuable. Do you?

Wah! Chestnut is an arterial and it should stay as such without stop signs every corner!

As for the pool, how about a pool for swimming and lessons and slides for fun and a kids pool with some fun features such as Milton-Freewater has instead of a mechanical wave-pool and no place to swim laps!!

Chestnut is a major east-west corridor and couldn't be efficiently turned into ANY 4-way stops. The major problem is the lack of visibility. In this case, the Tree Nazis have mandated bushy trees and the local populous won't cut them... so we get very dark/hidden views. If we painted yellow lines to prevent corner parking and eliminated about 50% of all the trees then the problem would be much abated.

During School Hours there should be a human crossing guard at Chase/Chestnut ... cars don't stop when they should for the kids crossing the street.

Obviously from someone who doesn't live on Chestnut. We have Main, Alder, Poplar and Rose Streets. Why is Chestnut considered an arterial? 0  out of 6 found this valuable. Do you?

I'll agree that there is lack of visibility. I'll disagree it has anything to do with the trees. And since we have to live on Chestnut we need to park somewhere. Maybe we need more accidents and people starting to die before people will finally realize that they don't need to go 50 miles an hour down a residential street. 6  out of 6 found this valuable. Chestnut has one stop light and is one of the best routes to go from 9th to Howard w/o all the stop lights downtown. I agree, there needs to be some kind of crossing guard at Chase for the Garrison kids. Where Lincoln is, why isn't there a school zone sign on Chestnut? 1  out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?
