"I think enough has been spent on fancy buildings and beautification projects. Now is the time to get the streets fixed and use better planning in doing so. Why is it that whenever a street is repaved, then a few days later someone is digging it up to fix pipes or wires or whatever? This is a huge waste of the taxpayer money. Fix the wires and pipes first and then finish with the repaving. Smart idea.....huh? As for the schools projects.....enough time has been spent on planning;just get around to doing it! If the golfers want a new clubhouse, let them pay with the fees and membership. A large percentage of taxpayers do not play golf or use these facilities. I know what I say will make some people mad....but then let them be mad. Maybe if they would just stop talking and complaining about things and do them, things just might get done. STOP THE TALK AND DO THE WALK....as they say!" 17  out of 18 found this valuable. Do you?

I know that not every one thinks that the club house or the maintenance building at the golf course are very important to this city and that the golfers should pay the bill if we want or need repairs.
I disagree. The Vet's Memorial Golf Course is valuable to this city weather you play golf or not.
I think the schools are valuable and I don't have any children. We all pay tax for that. I don't think I would ever use a public swimming pool. However I think that every city needs one, just like we need public parks. To an avid golfer, a golf course is there park. Most people would agree that public parks are a necessity. Every one likes different things. All those golfers that play at the Vet's are paying taxes for public facilities weather they use them or not. They pay for things that you enjoy. Plus they pay for there round of golf. The are also paying for the new irrigation system.
When was the last time you payed admission to get into any public park in town. I think its selfish and closed minded to say, “If the golfers want it they should pay the bill”. It cost a lot of money to run a golf course, yet the cost to play a round of golf at the Vet's is relatively low so every one that enjoys the sport can afford to play.

Hey UnionBulletin,
What gives, are you to chicken shit to respond? Where is you objectivity? The shop that I work in is owned by the city. Why would the golfers care about the building that I work in and why should they pay for repairs? They play golf and they pay for that. The building is below grade and when it rains hard the shop fills with watter. Thats not the golfers fault. I don't think they even know this about the maintenance shop.
Do you find this valuable?
