The district purchased land on 11th Avenue at an old canning plant for a new middle school.

Estimated cost in late 2006 was $16.75 million.
Why is it being proposed?
Central Middle School is nearing 100 years and has more students than it can support comfortably. Maintenance costs are pricey.

REPLACE OR REMODEL GROVE ELEMENTARY

At its current site, or elsewhere.
How much does it cost?
Undetermined.
Why is it being proposed?
The school is overcrowded and aging.

REPLACE OR REMODEL FREEWATER ELEMENTARY
Where is it?
At its current site or a new location.
How much does it cost?
A November 2000 proposal would have rebuilt Freewater for $8 million.
Why is it being proposed?
Freewater Elementary is nearing 100 years old. It has problems with air circulation and safety concerns with its top story. Students are currently housed in modular classrooms outside the main building.
